Overview:
Ms. James owns an insurance policy on her life. The policy has a cash surrender value
(csv) and the insurance company allows its customers to borrow against the available
(csv). To date, $20,000 in premiums have been pad and the policy has a cash
surrender value of $55,000. To pay for an unexpected obligation, she had to borrow
$55,000 from the insurance company. She is now considering canceling the policy. She
would like to know what obligations she has to the insurance company and what are the
possible federal tax consequences of these events. Summarize your findings in a
research memo.
Instructions:
Prepare a 1-2 page research paper directed at your clients fully explaining the results of
your research/planning into their tax situation. Please back up your conclusion with
appropriate tax references.

First, identify the specific theory or theories used and provide a brief overview of the

general theory’s main points. Next, describe how the conceptualization was then applied

conceptualization affected the therapist’s approach to treatment, which may also include

discussion related to multicultural variables.

Recommendations

Each of the following are required to be included in your recommendations:

• Prognosis.

• Should services continue to be offered, or would a referral for counseling services

elsewhere be more appropriate?

• Potential referral(s) to other professions (e.g., medical, psychiatric, etc.).

• Recommendation for a specific therapeutic orientation to be used with this client.

• Nature of treatment (e.g., specific therapist, priority of treatment issues, interaction

with client characteristics such as defensiveness, motivation for treatment, problem

complexity, etc.).

Part 2: Next, you’ll complete the below chart in a new document (see an example in section 4 of this week’s reading). 

Keep in mind you should be imagining what kind of document this employer needs a technical writer to make, and use the chart to analyze that. In other words, don’t use the chart to analyze the employer, but instead use it to imagine a document they might want you to create. 

Also be aware that many of the job postings (such as the above) don’t have a lot of specifics, so you can make educated guesses as to some of the answers as needed.  

 Part 3: Next, write 2-3 complete paragraphs explaining what benefits you think completing this chart (if any) would have when creating a technical document. 

Your document should: 

• Be 12 pt, Times New Roman font, 1-inch margins, double spaced. 
• Be 2-3 paragraphs long (with a minimum of 3 sentences per paragraph).
