Overview
You will write a proposal for a research paper on any topic in history. Be sure that your topic is narrow enough to be meaningful. So, for example, if you wanted to do a biographical type paper, you should not set out to write on something so broad as “The Life of Thomas Jefferson.” Rather, you would pick a segment of his life such as “Jefferson as Governor of Virginia” or “Jefferson’s Education at William and Mary,” etc.
