Write a 7 paragraph reflection due 1/30
Paragraphs 1-2 are a reflection on the most important things that you learned from the films. These paragraphs do not have to be connected to the other parts of the essay.
Paragraphs 3-5 are a reflection on the most important things that you learned in the readings. Cite your sources in text (author year page #) and then provide a works cited list on a final page. Citing a source does not mean quoting; it can just mean referring to a text as the source of your information. Try to integrate the major themes of the readings. Don’t summarize a lot of details. Be sure to cite at least one reading from each group: A, B, and C.
Paragraphs 5-6 are your application of the concepts learned from this unit’s films and readings to a current events news article of your choice. Provide a link to the article at the top of this section and clearly explain how and why it relates to the course concepts.
Works Cited page should include all readings cited AND the news article.
Suggested template for a paragraph: The most important message in (Film A/B or the readings in Group A/B/C) is ….. We see this in (details from film or details from one or more readings. Approximately 3 sentences here.) This is important because (approximately 2 sentences here).
Paragraph #1: The most important thing you learned in Week 1 film and why it’s important
Paragraph #2: The most important thing you learned in Week 2 films (you can choose just 1 film), and why it’s important
Paragraph #3: The most important thing you learned in Unit 1A readings (cite at least 1 of the readings) and why it’s important
Paragraph #4: The most important thing you learned in Unit 1B readings (cite at least 1 of the readings) and why it’s important
Paragraph #5: The most important thing you learned in Unit 1C readings (cite at least 1 of the readings) and why it’s important
Paragraph #6: Summary of a news article from the past 3 to 5 years that you found that illustrates the issues in Unit 1 with link to article included
Paragraph #7: Explanation of how your news article fits in with what you learned in Unit 1
Each paragraph should be approximately 3-6 sentences. You do not need an introduction or conclusion, and each paragraph can stand alone. You don’t need to connect them.
