The purpose of this assignment is for you alone or with your policy team to complete a 5 (5.5 max and no less than 5) full page (double spaced, not including title/reference pages) written analysis for an identified client, related to a health issue selected by you and/or your main group. [Note: You can only work with other members of your main, policy assigned group, as an individual, and you may not form your own groups within your policy team.]

Use Chapter 14 of the text—“The Art of Structuring and Writing a Health Policy Analysis”—to guide completion of this assignment. According to the text, “A policy analysis is an analysis that provides informed advice to a client that relates to a public policy decision, includes a recommended course of action/inaction, and is framed by the client’s power and values.” Significant research is required for this assignment. You must use at least five (5) scholarly resources, APA formatting, 7th edition, include a title and reference page (not included in your total paper page count); papers are expected to be free of grammar/formatting/syntax errors. See the rubric attached to the Policy Paper

Thoughtfulness of writing will be included in your overall assignment grade. Completed analyses must also include (length of sections are approximations):

• A description of the client, including discussion of the client’s power and values. (1 page)

• A problem statement, written in the form of a question. As noted in the text, “Everything in your analysis must flow from your problem statement.” [A draft of this section will ALSO be submitted by every group or individual student, to the drop box on Canvas by the due date) (1-2 sentences)

• A background section, informing the reader why the particular problem has been chosen for analysis. Remember to provide a summary of the health issue. (1 page)

• A landscape section, organized by stakeholder or factor. Irrespective of how you organize the section, you must include description of at least two key stakeholders and at least one of the following key factors: political, economic, and legal factors. (1 page)

• An options section, providing two (2) alternatives for your client to consider. Your alternatives must be based on your client’s values and powers, and must be within the ability of the client to undertake. (1 page)

• A recommendation to the client, which must be one of the options addressed in your options section. Your recommendation must set forth your rationale for this recommendation. (One half to three quarters of a page).
