Details:
This written essay task requires that you select a nursing specialty area of practice. The area you choose is completely open and up to you. The essay will have three parts. These are:
- Introduce the speciality area of practice you are focusing on and describe the context, the specialist skills that the nurse must demonstrate and the attributes of ideal nurses working in that speciality
- Considering the speciality context, identify and describe an issue that features in the contemporary literature related to that area of speciality practice. What is the issue, why is it receiving emphasis now, what solutions or strategies are being discussed in the literature?
- Now that you have identified something about the role and the context of your speciality practice area, write a reflection of why this area is interesting for you and how suited you think you are for practice in this area in the future (this should relate to the skills and attributes you have identified).
The essay should have an introduction and conclusion.
You must reference any material that you source about the speciality and practice area using APA 7th edition. The body of the paper should have three headings; area of practice, contemporary issue and reflection. The reflection can be written in the first person but all other sections of the essay should be written in the third person.
Papers under the word count generally do not do well due to lack of detail. Papers more than 10% over the word count (1650 words) will be read up to the point of 1650 words and no further.
Please submit the paper in Microsoft word with double spacing in size 12 font. A cover page stating your name, student number, essay title, word count not including the bibliography should be used.
Please use the rubric to identify the expectations of the task in greater detail.
