|Reflection Topic 1: The most important concept so far is having objectives and learning goals. Learning objectives are important since they guide students as they work through the course. The learning objectives also provide an opportunity through which a teacher can assess the learning progress of students (Rebele& Pierre, 2019). Learning objectives are also important as they provide a guideline for reviewing materials. Also, to make learning objective a powerful tool in course learning, teachers should ensure the objectives are actionable and measurable. Another component is engagement. A teacher should create an engaging procedure. This is important since students’ engagement requires them to activate prior knowledge and a summarizing activity. For example, in the lesson plan, Thursday and Friday’s activities involve comparing and classifying objects using only one sense and describing how the five senses work together. These activities are important since they create a platform through which students can engage with their peers and also free to ask any question on the topic. The engagement has shown a positive impact on student development. Research also indicates engaging students in the learning process increases the level of focus and attention (Martin &Bolliger, 2018). Students in an engaging environment are also motivated to put critical thinking skills into use. |Reflection Topic 2:Critical thinking is vital in student development. The above strategies aim at improving students’ critical thinking and problem-solving. On activator and summarizers, students are able to focus on a goal, problem, and challenges. The strategy helps students to take ownership of what they are learning. Summarizers allows students to draw a conclusion and highlight the key concept that they have learned. Through the approach, students can improve their integration and retention skills. The strategy can also be enhanced by using question categorization brainstorm, which aids in student engagement. On the other hand, visual learning tool helps provide visual information which student can link up in the learning process. Through visual learning tools, students can link real-world physical objects to the five senses. A good example is the use of the five senses dice or charts. Visual learning tools helps in creating a robust and memorable impression and experience. Thus, students can easily remember the content and address any problem they might face in the assignments. In inquiry-based instruction, I can pose thought-provoking questions. Inquiry-based instruction inspires students to think for themselves hence becoming more independent learners. Through this, students are able to improve their problem-solving skills and gain more insights into an academic concept. Lastly is information literacy. In this approach, student improves their skills by identifying necessary information from vast data presented to them.Implementation of this process in the future is critical for improving learning objectives.
