Debate Question: Should more or fewer products be available to women over the counter?
Why?
Note: Do not address oral contraceptives in this debate, as they will be the subject of a
future debate later in the course.
For this debate, half the class will be pro (more products should be available) and half will
be con (fewer products should be available). Assignments will be made once course
enrollment is complete, and they will be posted in the discussion board.
Post your answers to Debate Forum 1. Debates require the following:
 A clear position statement
 An original argument
 Two rebuttal statements to two classmates
 A concluding statement
 A minimum of two references following APA Style
 Proper grammar and spelling
Please keep in mind that your classmates may not personally agree with their assigned
issue, but for the purpose of the debate, they have to present their points.

Debate 1 Assignments
In week 5, you will be debating the topic of over the counter (OTC) access to products
designed for women’s health. This means treatments not requiring a prescription from a
health care provider.
PRO – Half of you will provide referenced support of why there should be more OTC
products available (include what products you think should be available or added to OTC?).
CON – Half of the class will provide referenced support of why less OTC products should be
available (include what items you think should be removed from or not be available OTC?).
