data and visualization technique

Go to this week’s readings, and download the chapter and the three tables into your computer. Read the chapter and the three tables very carefully.

Download Table 3-1, Table 3-2, and Table 3-3 onto your computer which you will work on for this assignment.

You will then need to do some data-collection on your own by googling on the internet.

Also, you will also use www.easystates.com (Links to an external site.) to generate various charts.

Good luck working on the data and visualization technique.

Question 11 pts

Comprehend Table 3.1 first fully, then start to do research about what happened in 2020.

Add a row about the 2020 election, and fill in the blanks for this newly added row. Save it as a word document.I recommend that you use cnn.com to complete this assignment. Add a note at the bottom of the table about the source from which you entered the 2020 data.

Submit it as:

Question 22 pts

Go to www.easystates.com (Links to an external site.) and log on with your university email address.

Remember that you have to use the university email address to register in order to get full access to the tools on easystates.com. If you haven’t done so, you need to do it now for completing this question.

After you log on, you will see that under your “My EzStates” tab, there is an option called “visualize_volatility”. (Note that this option will not be available if you use a non-university email to register for easystates.com).  After you get on to this page, you will see a familiar spreadsheet that you worked on before. Comprehend what this visualization tool is about fully.

Now convert the Table 3-1 you just worked on for your last question into a csv file by using Excel’s save as feature. The first column (Election) has the time variable, and the second to fifth columns had the variables concerning racial group votes for the Republican and Democratic candidates. Remember that for your csv file you can have only the first row to define the meaning of the columns. From the second row to the last row of your csv file all you have are the exact data.

Use the tool on the “Visualize_Volatility” page from www.easystates.com (Links to an external site.) to generate four volatility charts concerning these four racial group votes, and name these four charts as:

white_Republican_vote_1952_2020

non_white_Republica_1952_2020

white_Democra_1952_2020

non_white_Democra_1952_2020

Combine the four charts into one document

Upload it here.

Question 41 pts

Comprehend Table 3.3 first fully, then start to do research about what happened in 2020. Obviously, the census data for the 2020 election is not available yet. But can you find some other sources that talked about the racial turnout rates in the 2020 election? If so, add a row to fill in the cells about the 2020 election. Add a note at the bottom of the table about the source based on which you entered the 2020 data. Fill in the blanks for the 2016 data and note the sources as well if you can.
