Book Assignment-Writing Guidelines

For the Book Assignments– Three detailed paragraphs (minimum 5 sentences per paragraph, more if you want more points)- One quote with quotation marks and cited APA from the book(Book or Chapter Pp) in each of three paragraphs is mandatory. So each paragraph has a quote with quotation marks and cited in APA from the book (three quotes minimum from the book for the assignment).  Then discuss the ethical quote by quoting or paraphrasing from at least one of the other (agricultural sources provided) in each of three paragraphs. Each paragraph has a quote from the book and at least one cited paraphrase or quote from another source. Four total sources for the assignment!

You must have a minimum of 450 words. Minimum 5 sentences per paragraph. More receives higher grades.

The goal is for you to use your text or PowerPoints, and other agricultural research articles when writing your weekly book assignments about the video.

1.          Use examples if necessary to further elaborate

2.          Saying something is moral or immoral is NOT applying ethical theory

3.          Don’t just “label” an issue with a theory name

4.          Don’t assume the link/connection is clear. Please make the connection clear even if it seems obvious.

Ethical theories and views that can be used includes the following: Hedonism, Desire Theory, Divine Command Theory, Natural Law, Ethical Egoism, Psychological Egoism, Consequentialism, Kantian Ethics, Social Contract Theory(Contractarianism), Ethical Pluralism, Absolute Moral Rules, Virtue Ethics, Feminist Ethics, Ethical Relativism (Ethical Subjectivism and Cultural Relativism), and Moral Nihilism.

Book Assignments-
Turn in your APA Paper in the Book Assignment Drop Box. You will be able to see your percentage of plagiarism (same as originality score).

VERY Important—- If you are over 30% but it is mainly quotes I will allow a little over 30% originality. However, you should paraphrase and cite most of your additional sources and quote with quotation marks and citings from your book.

Plagiarism will be penalized with a 0 to 50% on the paper. Plagiarism includes copying and pasting from another source, yourself or student paper as well as turning in another student’s paper that has been turned in before. Therefore, you need to review the APA book so that you cite correctly. You will be turning in your papers through turnitin.com if you are over 30% it is likely that you have plagiarized, or you are using to many direct quotes with quotation marks from your additional sources.

After writing your weekly assignment put it in the Weekly Assignment Drop Box for Turnitin.com. Make sure and post before the deadline. No credit given after deadline.

I have gone on the library online article search and posted articles relating to the different assignment videos. You may also use other articles that you find using “Google Scholarly” or the “Library Database” for additional sources (See Library Research Tab on the Left in Bb). Do not use Wikipedia, dictionary, or a website (points will be taken off).
