While you are watching the videos, take note of all the different topics
and concepts in the videos that are addressed in Ch.12) Motivating
Employees, Ch.13) Groups & Teams, Ch.14) Power, Influence &
Leadership and Ch.15) Communication. Think about what part these
topics/concepts played in the success of Coach Boone and the Titans,
along with where they were demonstrated.
In the original discussion analysis that you will write, consider the
following (but do not have to limit yourself to only these):
1) What kind of a leader was Coach Boone? What do you think about his
approach to leadership? Do you think there would have been a better or
more effective approach?
2) What approach to motivation did Coach Boone use? How effective was
it? Is there another motivation approach that perhaps would have been
equally or even more effective in this situation?
3) What do you think of the way Coach Boone communicated? Was he a
successful communicator? How did he use communication to achieve his
goal? What role did communication play in the Titans successes and/or
failures?
4) What do you think of Coach Boone’s approach to managing his team?
What did he do to get the team to perform successfully? What did he do
right and/or wrong in his approach to team management?
5) How did Coach Boone successfully go about managing the Titans
performance and how did he get the level of quality/productivity he
wanted from them.
Your assignment is to write an original discussion analysis of the
success of Coach Boone and the Titans based on the topics/concepts in
the Ch.12-15 information. You will need to assimilate the different
topics and concepts you select from Ch.12-15 that were covered in the
video. In your analysis, discuss how/where these were successfully
demonstrated as well as what should have perhaps been done differently,
making sure to use some specific examples. You should include an
example of what you consider to be the topics/concepts that were most
important in the success of Coach Boone and the Titans, and explain
why/how Coach Boone took the management approach he did and what
contributed to the success of his approach. Your analysis should
consist of a minimum of several good paragraphs. DO NOT just answer the
questions above or simply summarize each videos.
