3) Alfred Bandura theorized a social cognitive theory of learning that involved interaction between personal, behavioral, and environmental factors. One of the key factors in this theory was the use of self-efficacy—a belief that an individual is capable of performing in a certain manner in order to attain goals set out. Self-efficacy is related to self-esteem but there are differences. One of the challenges with self-esteem is how it may be defined. Today, the intent of the term “self-esteem” has gone far beyond its actual meaning and has become more of a pop-culture term.
