2. Read the journal article and take careful notes. Identify the journal article’s title, the author or author’s names, and where exactly this piece was published. This information must be at the top of your completed review. I must know where this article is from and who wrote it. Also: make sure that your journal article is NOT a “review” of a book, a film, or another journal article.

3. Start your review with a one-page summary of your chosen journal article.

4. Want to know what I’m looking for in the summary portion of your review? Read below:  Identify the main points of the article. NO tiny details. Summarize it. Keep in mind that in some paragraphs, the main idea is expressed in the topic sentence, yet in others, it may not be explicitly stated at all.  A passage may contain one or more points that are vital to its meaning. These elements must be mentioned in your summary.  Organize and present these main points in a coherent way. Be careful NOT to use the author’s words. Leave out any statistics or other data. And please do not follow the sentence structure of the original passage. THIS MEANS NO QUOTES FROM THE TEXT!!!

5. As mentioned above, you will need to identify the particular issue or issues that this article focuses on. Again, you must clearly summarize AND explain this issue clearly and concisely. If you cannot understand your chosen article then please pick another one.

6. For the second part of your review, you must analyze the author’s strategy in dealing with this particular issue. How does the author address the topic and to what degree is it discussed? What does the author assume you know?

7. How does your article’s chosen issue connect to the focus of our class? Be specific. Don’t be vague.

8. Was your author’s treatment, analysis, and explanation of this particular issue done well? Explain why or why not. 9. For the final part of the review you’ll need to provide your own insights on the issue(s) in the journal article you have chosen. Keep in mind that I’m not interested in your opinion, only in your informed and educated analysis.

10. Lastly, write a clear conclusion that re-states your evaluation of the issue or issues in the piece and how they were presented and analyzed by journal article’s author. This conclusion should identify, in short summary form, the key points you’ve already made in the review.

11. I want no more than (FOUR)
