Dear Class, 

Please pick one article and one way to interact with text. However, you may not pick agree/disagree. Also, you may chose to respond to the Gladwell video rather than an article.

Please write a two or three page essay. Please use three quotations to support your argument.Your essay should contain these elements:

•  An introduction, body, and conclusion
• A thesis statement in the introduction that addresses one of the ways to interact with texts and forecasts the direction of your essay
•  Body paragraphs that start with topic sentences and that provide examples (quotations from the article) to support your thesis statement
• Transitions between ideas
• All of the sentence-pattern options used out of order

You may use the notes as a guideline. In addition to that guideline, here is a sample outline:

What does a paragraph look like?

1. Topic Sentence
2. Supporting Sentences (including a quote)
3. Concluding Sentence

You can transition to the next paragraph, with the concluding sentence, or you can pick it up with the next topic sentence. Remember how DiCaprio undercut to transition?

What does an essay look like?

Intro. Paragraph:

• Hook (general)
• Introduction
• Thesis (specific)

Body (three paragraph body example):

• Topic Sentence
• Supporting Sentences (introduce a quote, add the quote, use the quote)
• Concluding Sentence

• Topic Sentence
• Supporting Sentences (introduce a quote, add the quote, use the quote)
• Concluding Sentence

• Topic Sentence
• Supporting Sentences (introduce a quote, add the quote, use the quote)
• Concluding Sentence

Conclusion:

• Reword thesis
• Conclusion sentences (project to the future)
