Dissertation Topic: Gender Preference among Chinese Parents
My Dissertation Title: An Exploration of the Continued Practice of Gender Preference among Chinese Parents
The aim of this dissertation is to explore possible reasons for and consequences of continued gender preference among Chinese biological parents
Research Questions:
1. What are biological parents’ perspectives on gender preference?
2. In what ways has a sexual preference among biological parents in China changed within recent years?
3. How does the sexual preference for having a son among biological parents influence a daughter’s right to an education?
-My research use both qualitative approach (Questionnaires for Chinese people who over 18 [link of my questionnaires]) and quantitative approach (Structured Interview for High School and University Teachers),
Questionnaires: I used Survey Monkey to do my questionnaires, and received over 100 responses, I will provide the results for you to analyse the responses by using SPSS or the analyse techniques provided by SurveyMonkey, and use the analysed data and results to show the phenomenon of Gender Preference in China. Also, how it answered the research questions, use academic literature to support the point.
Interviews：I planned to have two teachers for my interviews, but I haven’t design the questions for them yet and didn’t receive the answers. (So you can design the interview questions for the teachers and also design their answers that supported by the academic literatures, aiming to answer my three research questions!)
The aim of this chapter is to analyse the findings of my research , through a detailed discussion of the opinions gathered from participants, and using academic literature to support the findings.
