“Infinity” which is a new company in steel production and manufacturing, recently has entered the Saudi market for an ambitious nation contributing in vision 2030. The company management is planning to make a robust and strategic decision to stand out when it is competing in an extremely crowded marketplace. Steel making industries are dramatically changing due to the technology and demands. These changes can not be addressed unless big improvements in the layout of company facilities are attained.
“Infinity” company imports the iron ore (the raw materials) mainly from Brazil and Sweden. The flow of materials can be described as follows: the network is managed by a manufacturer such that the required quantity of raw materials is ordered for production. Then, the produced lot size is sent to the distribution centers and finally moved to the customer zones according to customer demands. In the reverse network, the collection centers serve to collect the returned products (defective or used products) for further recycling and reworking.
They are looking for Industrial Engineers (IEs) to design the manufacturing facility, and to locate the distribution and collection centers across the republic. Your team is hired by the company as IE consultants to achieve the following major tasks:
- Design the block layout of the manufacturing plant
- Design the detailed layouts for parking, canteen and warehouse.
- Provide the locations for the distribution centers
- Provide the locations for the collection centers.
