Familiarize yourself with the film term mise en scene. Find a scene or a shot on YouTube from one of your favorite movies that you believe is a perfect example of ONE component of mise en scene, i.e., EITHER the setting or the costume/makeup or the lighting or the acting (staging and performance) based on the description of each outlined in this file. Write a paragraph that tells us why you chose your scene or shot for this assignment. Refer to textual descriptions in this file. Also post the link to your YouTube video or whatever website you have chosen that we can access.
Components of Mise-en-Scene. In the original French, mise en scène [pronounced meeze-on-send] means “putting into the scene.” It was first applied to theatre and includes those aspects of film that overlap with the art of the theater:
setting, costume/makeup, lighting, staging and performance (performance = acting).
