Write a 1,000 word response to your chosen topic in paragraph form. Do not use bullet points or resort to listing reasons as explanation.

Cite page numbers from the book. Example – At one time it was not uncommon to lock up juvenile status offenders in this country by placing them in asylums for minor infractions. (Siegel p. 23)

Quoting from the book is okay if done properly, but paraphrasing is better. Use the above citation manner when paraphrashing.

After you cite information from your assigned reading explain what it means and use examples. The examples can be real, theoretical, or hypothetical. Do not cut and paste from the internet or use outside sources. Use the text book, your personal experience, current events, or common knowledge when writing.

Choose one of the following topics to write about:

• Discuss the basic gender differences; or
• Discuss the changes that American families are now undergoing; or
• Discuss the school environment as it relates to delinquency.
