Why Do You Think Hominins Evolved to Be Bipedal Discussion

I’m studying and need help with a Science question to help me learn.

This week, we are learning about the evolution of our hominin lineage and the earliest hominins. Central to understanding our lineage is the concept of bipedalism, as we are the only bipedal primates. This week I’d like you to consider the reasons why hominins might have evolved to be bipedal. Many hypotheses have been proposed for the development of bipedalism in the hominin lineage, but none of them are fully satisfactory from an empirical perspective. For this post, I’d like you to choose the hypothesis (or hypotheses) that you think is/are most likely, and describe it/them. Why do you think hominins evolved to be bipedal? What empirical evidence is needed to test this hypothesis/these hypotheses? How would you gather this empirical evidence?
