Questions and Answers
Question 1
(student): What are your favorite memories of nursing school from your Student days?

(selected nurse): Well, throughout my nursing school itself all I remember is the stress I had felt, and wanting it to come to an end. However, thinking back what I miss is the people I have met and were there with me throughout the whole experience. I miss our study sessions, I miss complaining to each other, I miss the rush of nursing school and the drive I had to achieve this goal I have set.
Kelly (student): Wow, that sounds relatable. You hit it pinpoint with how I feel.  Even though it hasn’t been long since I graduated.

Question 2
(student): How did your first year of RN practice compare to your nursing practice today?
(selected nurse): My first year of practice I was a nervous reck. It was definitely an adjustment. I constantly felt like I don’t know enough, or that I will mess up, I wasn’t confident in certain situations I was placed into. As you know and everyone says the nursing school world differs from the reality of nursing
(student): Yes, I have heard that a lot. I am sure I will feel the same way at first but that is something majority goes through, if not everyone.

Question 3
(student): What were some nursing practices that you used in your earlier years that are no longer used today? Why are they no longer used?

(selected nurse): One thing, is electronic medical records, when I started documentation was paper based. I also believe that EHR come with many great benefits. For example preventing medical errors and easy access to patient information.

(student): Totally agreed.

Question 4
(student): How have specific persons or events significantly impacted your practice over the years?

(selected nurse): Well there was two people that have impacted my practice. While I was working as a registered nurse, I always wanted to continue my education and many events kept happening that didn’t allow me to. My husband served as my motivation who pushed me and supported me throughout my whole program in my studies to receive my NP license. Once that was achieved, we opened up a medical office together since then my practice was simnifically affected. It took a turn into a whole different area of nursing. The other person who  impacted my practice is my mother who passed. She impacted my practice in personal ways.

(student): That is amazing, you and your husband sure do make a powerful, unstoppable team. Regarding your mother there is always someone who impacts us in a very personal and valuable way.

Question 5
(student): How have you impacted the nursing practice of others?
(selected nurse): Well currently, I hold courses in which registered nurses can learn how to administer fillers throughout various areas of the face. Throughout my practice I have traveled to various countries to learn techniques. Now I share my knowledge an allow nurses to be skillful in filler administration. I also allow others to gain confidence in their appearance.
(student): This definitely has been a very popular area of practice. Your work is most definitely impressive. You share your knowledge and bring confidence to people which is an amazing mix.

Question 6
(student): What contributions have you made to nursing in the areas of leadership, provision of care, and/or evidence-based practice?

(selected nurse): Well throughout my nursing experience I was also a charge nurse in the ED. Holding that role it was important to demonstrate leadership. I was big on team work, demonstrations when needed, I was always eager to jump in and answer questions. I made sure to always be presentable and polite. It is very important to not let your personal life to drag in the work setting.

(student): Those are some very important points.

Question 7
(student): What challenges in today’s nursing can be improved using lessons from the past?

(selected nurse): There is many lessons that can be learned. For instance during the current pandemic something very important is environmental hygiene. Environment goes back all the way to nightingale. Lesson from the past would be not using PPE can cause spread

(student): PPE is for sure important.
Question 8
(student): Who is your favorite famous Nurse from nursing history?
(selected nurse): Um, I’d have to say nightingale
( student): She sure is famous, haha.
Question 9
(student): How do you use that famous Nurse’s examples in your own practice?
(selected nurse): Well, Environment. Environment is big for me. I believe that having a clean and organized environment really serves many purposes. For example, dealing with fillers the environment needs to be clean and organized. For example fillers need to be stored a certain way, the room where the procedure goes on needs to well kept to prevent infections or other unwanted aftermaths. Even throughout my hospital experience I realized better patient outcomes occurred when the environment was neat, well lit, clean and so on.
(student) : great point. Environment is crucial. I will most definitely monitor the environment my patient is in.

Question 10
(student): Based on your nursing past, what advice would you give to the new Nurse today?
(selected nurse): I’d have to say, nursing is such an amazing job. There is always room for growth and change. Although it may get overwhelming at times, think of the outcomes of the people we serve. We are here to help them heal and it won’t always be happy endings. It is important to communicate your emotions and feelings and not keep it all inside.  Another important thing is always treat those how you would want to be treated, or how you’d want your loved one to be treated.
(student): That is very true. I have heard a lot that we have to treat our patients how we would want to be treated. I agree that it is important to share your feelings because nursing can get overwhelming.

Conclusion:
Gratitude (20 points)

(student): Well, this comes to the end of my interview. I had a pleasure listening to your feedback and experiences throughout your nursing career. As I always say you are my role model

Summary (20 points)
(student): While speaking with Irina, I gathered information regarding her her personal experiences and her outlook on different aspects of nursing. She discussed her favorite aspects of nursing school which were quite similar to mine. She mentioned how her first year of practice was stressful due to the differences between nursing school and the real world of nursing. She then discussed someone who greatly impacted her profession which was her husband. He allowed her to prosper and fulfill her dreams in the field of nursing. We also discussed something that differed from the start of her practice was the process of documentation, it had evolved into being all  electronical. After personal questions regarding her experience we touched on how she believes she impacted nursing, her favorite famous nurse which was nightingale and some aspects of hers she uses in her practice. After completing all the required interview question, I can say that it went smooth and was an interesting and educating conversation to have. She brought up some very good points.
