I’m working on a history report and need a sample draft to help me learn.

Read the attached documents at the bottom of the instructions. The first part is a brief history of Chinese immigrants, their lives in China and when they came to the United States. The next part includes primary documents written by people opposed to Chinese immigration and one in favor of Chinese immigration.

Imagine that you are a Chinese immigrant in California before the Chinese Exclusion Act became law in 1882. You will write two letters. One trying to convince a family member or friend back home in China to come to the United States, and the other trying to convince them not to come to the United States. You will need to use information from the documents provided and the information from our lecture over Chinese immigrants and the Transcontinental Railroad.
