well developed 5 paragraph essay, with at least 750 words count. And at the conclusion last part she wants a prediction or a recommendation sentences.
For each topic sentences it should introduce both subjects each time. And with supported examples and details. Transitions words are need for both comparison and contrast. It should be point by point.
I haven’t chose a topic, but there are 3 choices. You can pick anything.
Comparison/ Contrast Essays
Writers use comparison (showing similarities) and contrast (showing differences) to show why one action may be preferred to another or to show why one choice is better than another or to help the reader to make a good choice for his or her needs. Two methods of organization are commonly used for this type of paper: subject by subject or point by point. In the subject by subject method the writer uses the first part of the body to discuss one subject completely and then uses the second part of the body to compare and contrast the second subject to the first. In a point by point method of organization, the writer compares/contrasts the different subjects by looking at a few key points.
For a paper the length we are doing or longer, the point by point method of organization usually works the best. You will be using that organization pattern for this essay. Each body paragraph should have a topic sentence that reflects a point of comparison/contrast about both topics. The two subjects should be addressed in the same order in each paragraph. Make sure to use ample transitions within each paragraph. Don’t assume your reader will see how your subjects are alike or different just because you listed some things about them. You need to make clear what the similarities or differences are.
Your paper should be at least 750 words long and follow the standard MLA manuscript format.
For this paper you will do one of the following:
1) Contrast the differeing view of White Privilege held by Tim Wise and Ben Shapiro. Which do you agree with and why?
2) Compare and/or contrast the effect of pejorative language on minority groups using ”The Meanings of a Word” and “Being a Chink.”
3) Compare and/or contrast the ways two different minority groups have been stereotyped by other groups. Use the video we watched in class and other sources as needed
