Please read the Case Study for Chapter 6 in Course Materials. This Case Study is also on the CD which accompanies your textbook. After reading the Case Study, please discuss the following questions: (Do not answer the questions at the bottom of the page of the actual Case Study.)
1. Does it appear that, on average, the Neulanders were successful in signing more than one family from a parish? Does it seem that most of them knew each other prior to undertaking the voyage?
2. Do you think that it would be appropriate to estimate the average cost of the voyage from the mean family size? Why or why not?
3. Why is it important to study statistical information from the past such as the information in this Case Study? What does it tell us about our ancestors?
