I’m working on a management discussion question and need an explanation to help me understand better.

Requirements:

Write a reply minimum of 150 words for each discussion1 and discussion 2

Discussion 1

The document which is published by the company regarding the everyday activities that are being undertaken by it including the social, environmental, and economic effects is referred to as a sustainability report. This report will show the governance standard as well as the importance of the company. This will also develop the relationship between the responsibility and corporate policy of the global company which will be sustained. I have looked at the sustainability report of Target for the year 2012. The measures of nonfinancial performance are present in this report. In the year 2010, an assessment of the approved materiality has been conducted for recognizing, prioritize, and determine the problems of corporate responsibility for Target (Agudelo et al., 2019).

Some of the nonfinancial enforcement measures include enhancement of selecting the seafood, agriculture, and food offerings. Almost sixty percent of the selection of seafood will be trackable and sustainable. This seafood is not being ranked as the sustainable one at present. Food can be trackable when the last product will be tracked in the whole supply chain. Target will take the settlement of this seafood at the delivery facilities. This will be broken down to the vendors. Tilapia and Shrimp species must be improved. The biodiversity will be increased. They will utilize many methods based on ecological things.

The beverages, as well as the organic food offering, must be enhanced. Nutrition and also baby food must be increased. So that many sustainable guests will be expanded. If there are many organic choices then the interest will be grown. The treatment given for the animals must not be abused. It must be clean and safe. The team is created for guiding in making the decisions of sourcing of the product in the food business. The council has imposed many problems in the food industry and also established many suggestions on the issues of food. Consider an example where confinement has been made to remove the usage of containers of sow fecundation (Venturelli et al., 2019).

Discussion 2

The company that is going to be analysed is going to be The Walt Disney Company. I am going to present three non-financial measures from their Corporate Social Responsibility Report.

undefined

The first one is Percentage of waste diverted from landfills and incineration. Disney´s target was to achieve a 60%. This measure affects operations throughout Disney´s business units, since it has an effect on the way they build their buildings, the materials they use in their resorts or the fact that they collected recycled bottles to convert these in a usable fiber blend for their apparel line.

undefined

The second one would be Net Greenhouse Gas emissions (2020 target was to reduce emissions by 50% from 2012 total levels). This environmental sustainability measure has en end goal of achieving positive impact for future generations.

undefined

The third and last is the hours of service (Disney had a target of 5M hours of service by 2020). Through this non-financial goal, the company is looking to be part of communities through collaboration and volunteerism.

undefined

The Walt Disney Company publishes this report because it is a source for internal and external stakeholders to be informed of the initiatives being led by Disney to improve standards of living for not only their employees but also their communities, as well as the environment. More and more often, the society is looking at corporations expecting these to improve and invest in our future generations and the future of our planet.

undefined

I would do it the same way, since I believe it is imperative that companies start looking at shared value. Meaning not only look at profit margins, but also look at non-financial measures like the ones mentioned above, which have a direct effect on society.
