you will be conducting a wild cards and weak signals project. The project is meant to provide an initial introduction to an ‘out of the box’ thinking that could aid and complement strategic planning in the future. Wild cards are also called HILP – High Impact, Low Probability events. HILP events have a tendency to, ‘change the picture’ altogether: they abolish existing trends entirely and even cause enormous damage and cost human lives. All of the above are the results of unexpected events that can catch any organization unprepared.
In order to handle and prepare the team for wild card events, you will develop wild scenarios . We work under the assumption that while a single wild card is unlikely to happen, when one covers a broad number of subjects, some version of at least one wild card is bound to come into being.
