- I need a well-developed reply post that is meaningful, shows relevance to the topic, and reflects knowledge of the material. Well-developed posts demonstrate synthesis of the subject matter, extend the discussion by building on previous posts, and include proper source citations, when applicable. Posts limited to “I agree,” “Great posting,” or “Thank you” will not be assessed as well-developed, and will therefore not be considered a contribution to the number of required weekly posts.
- Student Jan:
- Two provisions in the ANA’s Code of Ethics for Nurses that may help me in the transition from a student to a newly graduated nurse are provision one and three. Provision one is the nurse practices with compassion and respect for every person(Gurney et al, 2017). Provision three is the nurse advocates, promotes, and protects the patient’s rights, safety, and health (Gurney et al, 2017).
- As a newly graduated nurse I feel that provisions one and three will help me in building relationships with my patients and coworkers. Trust takes some time to build and incorporating provisions one and three will help me build trust with those around me, and help me to be a competent nurse and a competent team member. By adopting provision number one, will help me respect everyone’s human dignity, values, thoughts, and ideas. Adopting provision one will help me in my relationships within my group and will help me build stronger trusting relationships with my patients (Gurney et al, 2017). Adopting provision three, will help me to be responsible, accountable, and be a competent nurse that provides care following current standards and evidence-based practice guidelines (Gurney et al, 2017).
