Walden University Utility of Aba in Interteaching Discussion

This Discussion is designed to expand your view of ABA to working with individuals other than those traditionally served by this approach; that is, children and adults who are not diagnosed with ASD or an intellectual disability. To do so, you will need to explore the literature to find other applications of ABA.

To Prepare
  • Review the Learning Resources for this week including the required weekly media programs to understand areas in which others have used ABA principles with diverse populations. Note: It is important for you to review all media for this week prior to completing this Discussion.
  • Search the Internet and/or the Walden library for research on the use of ABA and behavioral techniques with clientele other than those diagnosed with ASD or an intellectual disability.
  • Select a journal article that demonstrates an application of ABA to a population other than ASD or ID (e.g., education, behavioral pediatrics safety skills, substance abuse, gerontology, etc.)

Post an introduction to the journal article you selected and provide a brief summary of the main points. Include a brief review of the utility of ABA in this context.

Be sure to support your postings with specific references to the Learning Resources and identify current relevant literature to support your work.
