Walden University Ethics in Everyday Life Essay

You are driving to work, and you are running late for your morning meeting. Is it acceptable to exceed the speed limit to make sure you are on time? On the way, you stop quickly at the local mini-mart for a soda. The only soda available is from a company that obtains ingredients through massive deforestation within ecologically critical rainforests. Do you buy this bottle of soda? Hurrying in the door to try to be on time, you accidentally bump a folder out of another person’s hand. Do you stop and help the person pick up the pages scattered on the floor?

With everything you have to do to get through a typical day, and with all of the movement and interactions and basic communicating you perform with others throughout the day, you can often lose track of those around you and not consider how your actions might be affecting them. Different decisions you make in response to a situation or scenario will have different ethical ramifications.

For this Discussion, you will consider an ethical situation in everyday life and how it impacted you.

To prepare:

  • Consider everyday situations where ethics are involved and how you might be affected
  • Post an example of how ethics impacted your personal life. Describe the ethical situation and how you were affected.
