The objective of this assignment is to produce a web site consisting of three web pages.
Unlike other assignments this semester, you have significant latitude in how you design
each web page. Feel free to be creative, as long as you satisfy the requirements below.
Your web site will be an online units conversion program, consisting of three pages: (1) a
home page from which it is possible to get to the other two pages; (2) a page that converts
from pounds to kilograms; (3) a page that converts from degrees Fahrenheit to degrees
Celsius. The title of every page is Online Converter.
Note: You will need to know the relevant conversion formulas in order to program them
correctly. If you don’t know them, look them up on Wikipedia or elsewhere. Also, be
sure to check that your web pages produce correct outputs when given different inputs.
Specific Requirements:
1) Homepage
a. The title of this page is Online Converter. (1 point)
b. The text of the page, nicely formatted, will be: “Online Converter.
Converts from pounds to kilograms or from Fahrenheit to Celsius.” Note:
you can modify this text a bit if different text is better for your design, but
you have to communicate this information somehow. (3 points)
d. A Link Button to the pounds-to-kilograms web page that bears appropriate
text. (2 points)
e. A Link Button to the Fahrenheit-to-Celsius web page that bears
appropriate text. (2 points)
(Total: 10 points)
2) Pounds-to-kilograms page
a. The title of this page is Online Converter. (1 point)
b. The text of this page will include “Online Pounds to Kilograms
Converter” and instructions to the user that explain how to use the
converter. Format this so “Online Pounds to Kilograms Converter” is the
largest text. (3 points)
c. A TextBox that accepts as input the value in pounds that the user would
like to convert. This TextBox must be described on the web page so its
function is clear. (3 points)
d. A Label that displays as output the number of kilograms computed by the
program. This Label must be described on the web page so its function is
clear. (3 points)
e. A Button with the text “Convert Pounds to Kilograms” that, when clicked,
converts the pounds entered into the text box into a number of kilograms,
which are then displayed in the Label. (9 points)
f. A Link Button, with appropriate text, that links back to the homepage. ( 1
point)
(Total: 20 points)
3) Fahrenheit-to-Celsius page
a. The title of this page is Online Converter. (1 point)
b. The text of this page will include “Online Fahrenheit to Celsius
Converter” and instructions to the user that explain how to use the
converter. Format this so “Online Fahrenheit to Celsius Converter” is the
largest text. (3 points)
c. A TextBox that accepts as input the value in degrees Fahrenheit that the
user would like to convert. This TextBox must be described on the web
page so its function is clear. (3 points)
d. A Label that displays as output the degrees Celsius computed by the
program. This Label must be described on the web page so its function is
clear. (3 points)
e. A Button with the text “Convert F to C” that, when clicked, converts the
degrees F entered into the text box into degrees C, which are then
displayed in the Label. (9 points)
f. A Link Button, with appropriate text, that links back to the homepage. ( 1
point)
(Total: 20 points)
