1. Following the guidelines provided in , write
a REASERCH ESSAY of between 700 AND 1000 words in length on the aspect
of the War on Terror you selected for the Practice element in that exercise.
2. Topics selected should focus on ANY ASPECT OF THE WAR ON TERROR as it
manifests itself today in any one of the countries shaded in red on the map
below. Start with the course content coverage of the War on Terror in your
search for a suitable essay topic. Supplement this with an online search
initially for a source that offers you an overview of the War.
3. Besides the 750-1000 word length already mentioned, other format
requirements, include the following:
1. The adoption and application of a consistent system of referencing (citing)
sources consulted which will appear in a Bibliography at the end of the essay
and as footnotes or endnotes referencing specific content used in the body of
the essay. Refer to the Chicago Manual of Style for guidelines (your course
introduction should provide information regarding this).
2. A bibliography that contains at least 5 sources of various types of information
sources i.e. print (books and articles) as well as web site
materials. NOTE: Essays based entirely on non-scholarly internet sources are
unacceptable and will be returned for revision. Of course, books and articles
from Online Data Bases are entirely acceptable.
3. Appropriate illustrations such as tables, graphs, diagrams, maps, pictures, etc.
Remember to always acknowledge their sources.
