UTSA Education & Teaching Worksheet

All instructional units end with some form of assessment. Assessment that comes at the end of a unit is called “summative,” since it is used to measure, not further develop students’ learning. You’ve had lots of experience taking tests. But making good tests can be difficult and take a lot of time. For this closing module, you will create a summative exam for your unit that measures students’ learning at different levels of complexity. To do this, you will write both high- and low-level test items. These test items also need to be both objective and open-ended. Read the attached document for more specific guidelines about making your summative exam.

*Note that all tests must have at least 15 low-level multiple-choice items, 5 high-level multiple-choice items, and 3 high-level open-ended items.*
