1. I think that the cost of the robots are mostly fixed. As the only costs associated with them are purchasing the robot and maintenance.
2. I also think that the cost of full time hourly workers are also fixed costs as full time workers tend to be paid in salary, which means they’re paid that number regardless of how much or little they work. However, for part time It would be variable as the amount they are paid depends on the amount of hours they have worked.
3. Since the robots are a fixed cost, the robots would have to complete the same tasks as other employees but at a faster or more consistent pace, which would reduce the cost of operations essentially decreasing the break even point.
4. Advantages of employees:
- can communicate with costumers
- can relay information
- emotions
- answer questions
5. Advantages of Robots:
- Don’t have to train them
- completes their tasks consistently and on time
- Shows up to work on time
- Don’t have to pay wages
- Doesn’t slack or tire
- another one
- 1. I think the cost of robots are mostly fixed simply because of them having to be maintenance and worked on here and there throughout time, and being purchased is also an expense for the company.2. I believe full-time employees behave mainly as fixed cost because they are paid in salary compared to part-time hourly employees. Both don’t get paid by how much work is being done through the day but rather how many hours they work. That being said, as both do fulfill duties and put in the hours, only one gets paid in salary as the other would fall under variable costs.3. Walmart’s break even point would increase using robots rather than hourly employees by not only completing the job itself at a much faster pace but also a more efficient way. Other than no longer having to pay its hourly employees, the company would see more profits and revenue as all of its labor work is getting done at a much more faster and constant pace.4. Some advantages to Walmart in using employees rather than robots would have to be that certain details that actually make a big difference such as growing a connection with customers when making sales, definitely multitasking (then again not sure how advanced these robots would be or can get…), helping out customers in any of their sales needs.5. Some advantages to Walmart in using robots rather than humans would be unloading/loading shipment and displaying on the sales floor, cleaning advantages, no training program required, being able to get a job(s) done quickly and efficiently, constantly on the move, not having to pay hourly/salaries, work long hours/days, making sure all products are up to date/price and in the right area
