USC Key Concepts and Critical Theories in Organizational Behavior Discussion

Your journal will be a compilation of your thoughts and experiences from each course module. You will record (via text, audio, and/or video) what you learned in the module, your feelings on the class to that point, the module topics, and any other pertinent information you wish to include. You will use this journal assignment throughout the term and, more importantly, at the end of the term to help gain a better understanding of key concepts and important theories in organizational behavior.

Feel free to be creative with your submissions. If you choose to upload a document, why not include links to resources, images, videos, or other media? If recording audio or video, feel free to get creative or fun with your recording (e.g., use Zoom, WebEx, or Panopto) and integrate features like virtual backgrounds, video effects, etc. Recordings can be uploaded to your Rebelmail Google Drives and shared with me (alice.swift@unlv.edu) if the file is too large to upload to this WebCampus assignment.

Grading Criteria

Journals entries are worth 20 points and are expected to be well planned and logical with a minimum of 500 words. Your submissions are for your self-evaluation and reflection purposes, and the content that you write about will not be graded. I will mainly be checking for you to meet the minimum requirements (i.e., word count, answering of the listed questions, including all components of the RISE Model for Self-Evaluation).

Take this opportunity to pause and think introspectively about your coursework thus far. What lessons have you learned? How does this relate to your personal life? How about your work life? Your career and career aspirations?

An appropriate journal will include:

  1. What stood out as most important to me in the module?
  2. What did I learn from it?
  3. For modules 2 – 5, answer the additional question: How does this module build on the previous modules?
  4. How will I use this in the future

Additionally, here is Emily Wray’s R.I.S.E Model for Self Evaluation.  (Links to an external site.)Utilize this rubric to help structure your response. As you begin working on your OB Challenge project, you will likely be able to draw additional connections from your group work to organizational behavior. With each journal submission, I will provide comments with guiding questions to help you reflect on a deeper level.
