I’m working on a social science practice test / quiz and need a sample draft to help me learn.
- Hi! I just need helping answering the following questions in one paragraph each question.
- How did the courts, in the South particularly, treat people of color differently? Give specific examples.
- Why did Anglo officials feel that pachucos/as were such a threat to them and the city? (Think about the Zoot Suit Riots, the time period, and what was going on in the US at that time.)
- In the article, Forman is critiquing a popular book, The New Jim Crow. The question though is that the criminal justice of today resembles or perpetuates the Jim Crow laws (segregation, limited rights and privileges to African Americans and people of color.) Forman says, “Like a black person living under the Old Jim Crow, a convicted criminal today becomes a member of a stigmatized caste, condemned to lifetime of second-class citizenship.” (Forman, 110). Explain how this fits into the what we talked about when we studied early prisons?
- The Civil Rights Movement was an exercise in civil disobedience. Law Enforcement used that civil disobedience as justification of brutality, suspending civil rights, and criminalizing people of color. How does civil disobedience fit into society’s idea of crime? Be sure to use specific points in the reading, the miniseries, or the power point presentation.
