HW 4 – Selection of Sample of 35+ countries for class project
Project data: Please add your name to the top of your spreadsheet!!! Link to the List of Countries posted on Canvas under the Project Module. Select a random sample (using the Excel Rand random number generator) of 35+ countries (sample of 30 with 5 alternates), Go to the CIA World Fact Book, https://www.cia.gov/the-world-factbook/ (Links to an external site.) For each country observe the following variables:
Economy
- GDP per capita in dollars (PPP)
- Unemployment as a percent
- Gini index
People and Society
- Female literacy rate as a percent without the percent sign e.g. 85 (will be missing from first world countries, use 99)
- GDP spent on education as a percent
- Infant mortality rate as total deaths per 1000 live births e.g. 4.6
- Predominant religion as one name e.g. Protestant Christianity for the United States
If a country has as many as three variables with missing values, replace it with one of your alternate countries. Submit your results for exactly 30 countries with no country missing data for more than two variables as an Excel file in Canvas HW4. Along with the data, please submit the random number generated for each country.
