Using evidence from at least two sources discussed in class and in the readings (for example, the Metternich Stele, the Wand of Seneb, the Contendings of Horus and Seth, or the Book of the Dead), discuss the interaction of myth and ritual in ancient Egyptian religion, and what that interaction indicates about how Egyptians regarded the relationship between lived reality, the gods, and myths about the gods. Draw on as many of the readings as possible.
Make sure you have a strong introduction that states the arguments and connections you will be drawing in the rest of the essay.
Be sure to reference the readings and lectures, and keep your arguments grounded in the interpretation of specific examples. No sweeping statements; discuss Egyptian religion via concrete evidence.
Citations: Whenever you quote or paraphrase an example from the readings include a parenthetical citation at the end of the sentence. Examples: (Pinch, 96) (Olson, 208) (Contendings) (Book of the Dead, 30a).
