For this paper, you will need to do research either online. You should use at least three secondary sources and cite them in MLA format. These sources should show variety and may include the following: field research, websites, databases, movies, television programs, newspapers, books, etc. (Note: If you choose a movie or television program as a source, you must show how it supports your thesis/claim/focus. You should quote from all sources.)

The paper should be at least 750 words and may be longer. All papers should include a specific claim (an argument), reasons for making the claim, and support (evidence) from sources.

The memorial I chose for this essay is the “Martin Luther King Jr Memorial” in Washington DC. USA. For your essay, you will need to do some research to find out about the stories and images depicted, about the production (design, creation, financial backing, etc.) of the monument or memorial, about the public’s reception by checking the websites of local or national newspapers, about any disputes that arose during or after the creation of the monument or memorial.

You might also contrast the reception of the monument at the time it was created and now. Your claim might involve the appropriateness of the monument to commemorate the person or event. You might also discuss whether there is anything about the monument that you find inadequate or misleading.
