This assignment is worth 50 points. Points will be awarded based on both the quality of your writing sample and your analysis.
Your submission should include:
Your writing sample in a genre of your choice: 300-600 words
Genre Analysis: 300-500 words
For the Genre Analysis, please answer the following questions. Feel free to add any additional comments to explain the genre you chose and your stylistic strategies within that genre.
What genre did you choose and why? How familiar are you with this genre? Describe the effect that an ideal example of the genre has on a reader.
Describe your writing process. When did you draft this? How did you revise? What challenges did you encounter?
What stylistic choices have you made to fit into this genre? Comment on the following (and any other significant aspects of your style): overall structure (flow, transitions, beginning and ending), word choice, sentence variation, tone.
Discuss what you consider to be the greatest strength of your writing sample, and also a potential weakness.
