I’m trying to study for my Creative Writing course and I need some help to understand this question.
Below you will find a set of mediocre introductory and conclusion statements. Your task, is to re-write them to improve their effectiveness. You may improve upon what is already there or choose a different approach to writing an intro for the topic listed. You may not change the argument/position they state.

“Everyone is on their phones all the time these days. It seems like every time I turn around, people are using social media. I’m here today to affirm the resolution that social media negatively impacts people’s mental health.”

“For as long as there has been tobacco, people have liked to smoke it. Some people even chew on it. But we all know tobacco has harmful health effects. That’s why I affirm the resolution that all tobacco products should be made illegal in the United States.”
3) Introduction
“Our jails are overcrowded right now. It’s pretty bad. We wouldn’t have overcrowded jails if we didn’t arrest so many people, though. That’s the real problem. So, I’m affirming the resolution that we should legalize marijuana in all 50 states.”

“For these reasons, we should require every government building to display the Pride flag during the month of July. It’s just a flag, people.”5
