My topic is:
The topic I will be choosing for my independent study project is in week eight, praise vs. encouragement. I chose this topic because the versus used in it references a difference. This means that the two many have certain aspects that can make one seem better than the other.
My reason for choosing this topic:
When it comes to this topic of praise vs. encouragement, in simplest terms I want to know which is deemed as the most reliable and effective. I wonder if the basis on which one is better is determined by individual situations or observation on a group/ multiple people. I do not know much about the topic besides what praise and encouragement are and how they differ.
My hypothesis:
I believe encouragement is more effective because you can convince someone to try something, but when you “praise” them, they are only getting satisfaction if they completed the task.
Things I can research to go along with my topic:
What is praise? What is encouragement? How are they used? Why are they used? Interactions, observations, and behaviors can be used for emphasis.
