University of Michigan Transmission of Zavika in the Human Civilization Discussion

This project is intended to be FUN. It will also ask for your creativity. I hope that you have had creative prompts all along the way. As we have discussed, world building is an open-ended activity, since a world can never be as complete as our Primary World. This assignment is rather like the Present a World project, except that you’ll be building your own world dimension. You can invent a religion, a mythology, a character, a philosophy, a geography, or any of the possibilities below. You can choose any aspect. I suggest choosing only one and developing it completely. You can also propose a topic to me if you can think of another interesting direction. I’m also available to help you along by giving you more guided questions and advice. This paper need to be 1000-1250 words.

I have some guided questions in the following PowerPoint presentations:

Religion and Mythology: Week Seven, Week Ten

Language Building: Week Seven

Philosophy: Week Eight

Grandfather Paradox: Week Eight (Time)

Invent a game: Week Eleven (both PowerPoints). You could also invent a theme park ride or video game scenario.

Create a non-human character (or set of characters): Week Thirteen (both PowerPoints)

Create a human character (or set of characters) for fantasy or sci fi: Week Fourteen (will be posted Weds.). You could include a hero’s journey here.

You can also:

Create a Map. What is in your map? What is off the map? Are there other boundaries or borders? Can they be crossed? How and by whom? Are there any paths or roads? What happens along them? Are there separate realms? Who or what lives in them?

Write a sequel, prequel, or interquel to an already existing story. (Week Ten)

Or retcon or reboot an existing story. (Week Ten)

Invent a pandemic. (Week Twelve)

Create a utopia or dystopian society. Lay out a set of problems and show how the utopia solves them or the dystopia makes them worse. This topic may be connected to political systems (Week Seven).

Invent a small fantasy ecosystem. What flora and fauna live in it?
