University of Michigan Psychology Major Depressive Disorder Case Study

I’m stuck on a Psychology question and need an explanation.

I want you to create a case study on Major Depressive Disorder (i.e. a story about a fake person) that describes the following:

  • What symptoms they’re experiencing.
  • Factors that may have contributed to the development of the disorder.
  • Treatment they are seeking that they find helpful.

Instructions:

I’ll give you an example using a physiological disorder. Let’s say I got the assigned “asthma.” I would write something like this:

Dave is a typical middle aged man of moderate health, though he has trouble breathing at times. He finds it harder to breathe when he exercises, especially when it is really hot or cold outside. At times, this difficulty gets so severe, he wheezes and feels like he’s “breathing through a straw.” He grew up in a household where his parents both smoked. He now finds relief by using an inhaler daily, which helps prevent attacks, and also alleviates his severe symptoms when they arise.
