University of California Irvine Applied Learning Presentation

The goal is to present your understanding of the content for the week and how it relates to

working with children (either in an informal or professional setting). As an audience, we’d like

to see two things:

1. Your brief summary of what we can learn from these readings (handouts and/slides are

really helpful). Any combination of the readings can be discussed. For example, you

might go in-depth with one particular reading for the week. Or you might provide some

information from all of the readings.

2. Your connection of the learning to a real world setting with children. Your connection

can come in any number of formats. Some possibilities include:

a. Intervention or assessment example

b. Popular Culture reference related to topic (TV show, movie, book, social media)

c. Example from a cared for child scenario

d. Example from a presenter’s own childhood

e. Other options exist – feel free to be creative! READ MID IN THE MAKING CHAPTER6 AND ARTICLE
