Q1- One of the attractive features of the book is that Piketty was able to collect such a vast data on income and inequality of many different countries. He notes that the income share of America’s 1% are far greater than in other countries, even similar countries. Why is this? And what does this mean for America relative to other countries?
Q2- The central theme of the book that Piketty tries to establish is that r>g; now that you have read the book and read other supplemental material, do you think that r>g is a problem for society?
Q3- One of the ideas that I liked in the book was Piketty’s discussion on the role of the state in society and how that has changed. He shows that tax revenue as a percentage of national incomes in countries has drastically increased in the last 100 years, why has this happened? Is this a problem?
