This chapter is near and dear to my heart because, as a new professional, I worked long hours and did not pay attention to the signals that my body was giving me for rest and relaxation. I was so determined to “make it” that I put my job over my health and my family. A quote that always comes to mind when I think of work-life balance is “Take care of yourself; if you died today, your job would be posted before your obituary.” I want you to take in this chapter and really pay close attention to all the boundary suggestions and stress implications. Talk to me about how you will promote a healthy work-life balance from day one in your career.
