Week Four Discussion Question
For those of you who grew up in a democratic society, think about how your worldview was shaped by such a free environment. You are free to visit other countries, you are free to subscribe to any news outlet, you can choose your religion, political party, and affiliations. Now try to put yourself in the situation of someone from North Korea or another oppressive regime.
How would that environment act to constrain your worldview? Living in an environment in which the state has total control over every facet of your life and in which you have nearly no competing input from outside the state.
This video is a good example of how the State can control people and covers the total domination of all the factors that we have in this chapter that forge one’s worldview.
