Need assistance with the following discussion board question (Part A & B):
Part A:
There are many viewpoints on human ecology – or in other words, where do humans fit into the picture. A classic debate has been on the question: Are humans part of the ecological world or are we above it? To what degree do you think ecological processes influence human lives? To what degree do you think we are able to overcome ecological pressures? Please provide detailed responses and interactions.
Part B:
Provide feedback to 2-3 classmates.

This week we learned about our ecosystem as well as how humans play a part. According to What Is Ecology (n.d.), an ecosystem is a geographic area that includes all types of nonliving parts and organisms of their physical environment. Ecosystems can also be either large or small. When asked if we as humans are part of the ecological world or above it I would say we are part of it. Across the world, many civilizations have different beliefs and opinions about the ecosystem and our world in general. For example, some countries are okay with dumping trash on the ground or into the ocean which harms our ecosystem. Or they are okay with overfishing, oil spills, and air pollution which also harms our ecosystem. Some other countries are against these types of harmful effects on our ecosystem creating laws in place or new solutions to help our ecosystem moving forward. However, as a world full of different countries and views, it is important to all come together and agree these types of harmful effects do not help our ecosystem. As humans, we are leaving behind a damaging imprint as well.
I do think we can overcome our ecological pressures. If we all come together and formulate a plan to move forward I think it could work. Not only would we form better understandings, but we can also come together and save both our ecosystem and world from going into extinct. If we don’t do something within the next couple of decades we may in fact lose resiliency entirely. One of the major effects humans partake in is climate change as well as global warming. According to the Environmental Protection Agency (2016), climate change forces species to move to higher elevations where they can survive in their environment. This causes animals and different species to compete or go extinct. Furthermore, it also affects human survival when animals that are used for food sources are depleted. This is why it is important to start now to help our ecological world while we still can.

Ecology is the study of the relationships between living organisms and their environment. It helps to understand connections between plants, animals and the world around them. Ecology also provides information about the benefits of ecosystems and how we can use Earth’s resources. Humans are part of the ecosystem. Humans depend on resources such as sunlight, soil, water, and air for survival. Humans tend to change the ecosystem around them by building houses and stores. As a result, some species can no longer live in the same environment as humans forcing them to find another place live or even worse death. Humans tend to have negative impacts on the ecosystem. Human activity has left a large carbon footprint on the Earth with overpopulation, pollution, over fishing and deforestation. These changes has triggered climate change. Many ecologist have been trying to find ways to help reverse these changes because without a healthy ecosystem we may not be able to sustain life on Earth. The ecosystem plays a crucial role for living organisms.
