2) Participants (2 points max):
? How many people were in attendance? If you could only see the committee members, how many committee members were in attendance? If you could see all of the attendees, was there a large public turnout? If so, how many people?
? Do your best to identify the demographic characteristics of those in attendance (i.e. race, gender, age). If you were able to see committee members as well as community members, did you observe similarities/differences in their demographics?
3) Topics Discussed (14 points max):
? How many items were on the agenda? You do not have to provide a detailed description of all
the items on the agenda; rather, you must identify the total number of items on the agenda and summarize the key types of issues that were addressed (i.e. informational vs. action items).

5) Personal Evaluation (8 points max): This is a critical component of your paper. Include the following and/or any other questions you deem germane to the assignment. Incorporate specific examples to substantiate your evaluation. You may also incorporate lecture and reading materials into your analysis.

? What did you learn about the planning process? Were there any unexplained issues and/or a lot of jargon and legalese? Was the meeting run well? Was public comment encouraged? ? Compare your observations with the material that we have read and discussed in class so far are theory and practice in alignment?
6) Organization (2 points max.): The paper should be clearly organized and include all of the required material. The paper should be written in paragraph format (not lists or bullet points). You may find it useful to incorporate section headings.
Additional Information
Meeting Attendance: Ideally you should view/attend the entire meeting. However, if the meeting runs longer than two hours, you may leave after two hours.
Formatting: The paper should be double-spaced using 12-point font and 1” margins. Proper grammar and syntax are expected. The paper should be written in essay format and prepare a 2–3-page summary and evaluation of the meeting with APA or Chicago format. Don’t forget to add work cited page.
