CONTENT INPUT QUESTION:

Salt of the Earth is a classic American film. As you read in the module, the film was blacklisted in the United States for its content.

I use the film for several reasons, it provides a story of community engagement, union organizing, equality, and change. Of course, throughout the semester I have pointed to the idea of Being and Becoming. The quote is in the introduction of Becoming Mexican-American. In Salt of the Earth, Ramon Quintero finds himself in an unlikely position. The company invokes the Taft-Hartley Act (Links to an external site.)(HTML) that reduces the power of the mining union to strike. The action places Ramon in an unlikely political and social position.

Write an essay that explains Ramon’s change of heart, what do you think motivated him to make the change, and how does it connect to the idea of being and becoming.

Must be 750 words and in APA.
