UCLA How to Drive a Stick Shift Informative Speech

This speech must be recorded in front of an audience of at least 4 (four) in-person adults. The presence of the audience must be made clear during the recording. See the syllabus for details/requirements. Finally, remember that you will have two audiences for this speech, the virtual class online and your live, in-person audience. Your speech should be tailored for both audiences.

Suggestions for Preparation

Select a topic that you are already familiar, and that you can quickly gather additional information on. Keep in mind the importance of clarity. This is largely achieved through effective organization. Do not have too many main points. Confine your speech to three to five main ideas and group the other points under these. Clarify the relationship between your points. Keep your speech moving ahead according to a well-developed plan; do not jump back and forth from one idea to another. Practice the speech several times prior to recording but do not memorize it. Remember, conducting an asynchronous recording involves different variables.  Time your speech when practicing. After you have written your outline, set it aside and practice speaking from brief notes. It is only at this point that you should start recording.

Make sure you follow those steps carefully otherwise you will not earn credit:
