Many people aspired to being a Hollywood film star during the 1920’s and 1930’s. There was enormous competition and it was a difficult goal to achieve. But individuals who belonged to minority groups or were described as “people of color”, found it especially difficult to find any roles or any kind of recognition in Hollywood. And yet a few persevered and dealt with the stereotypes, discrimination, and disappointment while establishing a successful career.
